Creative Director and Fashion Entrepreneur Beatrice Korlekie Newman is the creative force behind UK high-end Luxury brand Korlekie, also a lecturer, Beatrice academic background extends to a Masters Degree in digital fashion at London College of Fashion, where she carved her strong technical knowledge and attention to quality and details placed in all aspects of crafting her garments. Much of her time during her MA studies was steeped in learning new digital Technologies such as 3D printing and UV Mapping programs as a way of producing new craft and design aesthetics into her fashion collections. As a result of her research and innovative collection, her designs where featured with the top 20 from London College of Fashion at the V&A museum to rave reviews and flattering comparisons to Alexander Mcqueen from Disorder Magazine. Beatrice’s brand, KORLEKIE, fuses Ghanaian tradition and British craftsmanship to create unique, elegant and luxurious, textile infused collections for the discerning woman with taste in quality garments infused with various handwork techniques and processes Beatrice to craft unique and exquisite pieces that speaks for itself. Established in London in 2012, the Korlekie label in London has been worn by various celebrities including Music Artist Rita Ora, Alesha Dixon, Ellie Goulding, tand he Noisettes, with numerous features in well established publications such as WGSN, Vogue Italia, FAULT, iD and Elle Magazines. Beatrice has gone on to win numerous awards for her design and innovation such as Hand and Lock Prize for Embroidery 09, Framework Knitters Guild Scholarship, Fashion’s Finest Emerging Designer of the Year Award 2013 and most recently has been shortlisted for the 2014 New Business category under the Creative Enterprise Awards. Away from managing her own brand, Beatrice is the subject leader for the MA Fashion Design course at Ravensbourne University and teaches BA Fashion design at De Montfort University.
