ABOUT ETHIKHA™…Source…Design…Make…

Ghana Fashion and Design Week® launched in 2012 the first Ethical Fashion and sustainable business development platform in Ghana under its umbrella themed – ETHIKHA™.


GFDW | ETHIKHA™ – is a contemporary platform dedicated to supporting and highlighting the work of designer entrepreneurs and social enterprises committed to sustainable fashion and lifestyle products made in Africa, and businesses with a social mission impacting lives, to showcase their products and trade during Ghana Fashion & Design Week.


The ETHIKHA™ Exhibition platform focuses on highlighting contemporary quality made in Africa products including – Clothing, Accessories, Jewellery, Hair and Skincare products, interior design and home-ware accessories, as well as Green Living products and well-being services from practicing social entrepreneurs.


GFDW aims to further create awareness and develop interest in ethical fashion, sustainable production and consumer appreciation, especially in Ghana, and across the mother continent, by promoting the essential message that ethical fashion practices carries through its ETHIKHA™ platform.

PROTECTING CREATIVE HERITAGE SKILLS AND TECHNIQUES THROUGH FASHION JOB CREATION.

Designers are encouraged to source natural resources on the continent, and make use of creative heritage and traditional skills, working closely with local Artisans to produce innovative quality made in Ghana, and Africa products, whilst protecting heritage and the environment. Think Creative…Think Future.


FASHION FAIR TRADE

Through Ethical Fashion and sustainable business development, creative businesses are encouraged to produce consciously and trade fairly across the industry value chain, whilst working with local artisans, social enterprises, co-operatives, skilled individuals and small scale businesses in Africa.

Designer entrepreneurs with a social mission helps to raise living standards for the marginalised and underprivileged, especially women, by creating sustainable jobs through skills training, education and production of quality commercial goods, using locally sourced materials and natural resources from within the country in which they design and produce.
